A full day on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), combining a scenic ferry crossing of Moreton Bay with Aboriginal history, coastal walking and wildlife spotting. The tour acknowledges the Quandamooka People as Traditional Custodians of the island. Lunch is not included and students can buy their own around Point Lookout or Dunwich.
1. Cleveland SeaLink North Stradbroke Island
We start our adventure with a ride on the SeaLink ferry from Cleveland. The ferry is the gateway to North Stradbroke Island. Enjoy the scenic views of Moreton Bay during the 45-minute ferry ride. You may even spot dolphins swimming alongside the boat.
2. Historical Museum & Dunwich Township Galleries
Minjerribah, known also as North Stradbroke Island, is our main destination. Our first stop on the island is the Historical Museum (entry fees are included) to learn more about the island’s past. This is a historic town that has been a main gateway to the island for centuries.
3. Myora Springs
A peaceful oasis surrounded by lush mangroves and crystal-clear freshwater springs, this sacred spot is where nature comes alive. Take a stroll along the boardwalk, where you’ll feel the cool breeze as you listen to the tranquil flow of the springs. Myora Springs offers the perfect escape into nature, we have often seen koalas up in the trees at this spot.
4. Point Lookout
Next, we visit Point Lookout, one of the best places on the island to enjoy sweeping ocean views. You can spot whales during migration season, and the sight of the waves crashing against the rocks is truly breathtaking. Don’t forget your camera!
5. North George Walk
For those who love nature walks, the North Gorge Walk is a must. This easy 1.2km trail takes you along the coast, where you may be able to spot turtles, dolphins, and sometimes even manta rays. The views from the cliffs are amazing, and you’ll feel completely at peace.
6. Dunwich Ferry Terminal
After a day of exploring, we head back to the Dunwich Ferry Terminal to catch the ferry back to the mainland. It’s a relaxing end to a day filled with adventure and beauty.
