All students are allocated an Ikon/ALG student email address (Microsoft 365) which provides access to the Student Portal and all other digital systems, such as Canvas for all academic content or LibGuides to access your online learning resources.
Your student email is used for:
Official Communication from Ikon | ALG
Contacting the Student Experience Team
Verifying your identity for privacy and security
Your user name for all system access
It is essential that you check your Ikon/ALG student email regularly to avoid missing important dates, deadlines and information.
Your Microsoft Office account gives you access to:
Outlook: Email and Calendar
OneDrive cloud Storage
Word, Excel, PowerPoint (online versions only)

The Student Portal is your gateway to all Ikon | ALG Systems, support services, resources, enrolment details, academic results, in addition to, events and activities to connect you to your Ikon | ALG community.
Logging in for the first time
01 Find your welcome email
Your welcome email will have been sent to your personal email address that you provided during enrolment and will have the subject line - Welcome to your Ikon Student Portal. (Don’t forget to check your spam folder) This email contains your student email address and a temporary password what you will need when logging in for the first time. If you cannot find this email. but know your student email address, you can reset yourself: 1. Go to Microsoft Password Reset 2. Enter your student email address: [email protected] OR [email protected]
1. Open a web browser and go to student.edu.com.au 2. Select Sign in with Microsoft 3. Enter your student email address ([email protected] | [email protected]) 4. Select Next
1. Enter the temporary password sent to your personal email address (email subject line: Welcome to your Ikon Student Portal) 2. If you can’t find the email, check your junk/spam folder 3. If needed, select Forgot my password and follow the prompts 4. Select Sign in
After signing in, you will see a message asking you to set up Microsoft Authenticator. This is a free app that is downloaded to your smartphone, which keeps your account secure. This is an essential security and identification feature which cannot be skipped. 1. Select Next to begin the setup 2. Continue selecting Next until a QR code appears on your screen (Do not close this page)
05 Add your Microsoft account to the Authenticator app (phone)
1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone 2. Select the + icon (top right) 3. Choose Work or school account 4. Select Scan a QR code 5. Use your phone to scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen
After signing in, you will see a message asking you to verify your sign-in request
1. Return to your computer and select Next 2. You may be asked to approve a sign-in request or enter a number shown on your screen 3. Follow the on-screen instructions in the Authenticator app 4. Select Yes to approve
Once completed, you will be taken to the Student Portal homepage. You may be asked to approve a login again in the future. This is normal and does not mean there is a problem with your account.
Using the online version of Word can sometimes disrupt your formatting depending on your computer settings. Check out the guide to avoid this happening to you
Student email (outlook) and other MS Apps: Word, Excel, OneDrive and PowerPoint Student email and password provide single-sign-on (SSO) access to most digital platforms
Activate (authentication required) and must be set up prior accessing other systems
Access support and other student systems, view recent announcements, search support articles, submit and track enquires, check results and update your personal details
Access your timetable and check your results – Ikon Students
Via the student portal but not SSO. Learner App will send an automatic email to your student email to login. (Tip: use the same password as your SSO credentials)
