People, support and info you need to know

Orientation is your first step into the Ikon | ALG community. It is designed to help you feel confident, informed, and supported as you begin your studies. Orientation introduces you to your campus, learning platforms, support services, and the people who will guide you throughout your student journey. There will be an opportunity to meet your peers, take a campus tour and pick up a goodie bag!

    Orientation Day

    Orientation provides essential information to help you succeed, including:

    • An introduction to your faculty, course and lecturers
    • Campus Tours and goodie bags
    • How to access your timetable and learning platforms 
    • Understanding your responsibilities as a student 
    • Academic expectations and assessment requirements 
    • Work Placements overview and expectations
    • Health, wellbeing and safety information
    • How to access student support and key services

    Orientation Day is a compulsory session for all new students. 

    Ikon Orientation

    Students are required to register for Orientation.

    You only need to attend one session. Session times vary depending on your course and campus location, and course start date, so please ensure you select the correct session when registering. Sessions run for approximately two-three hours.

    Orientation sessions are held on-campus except for virtual orientation which is a dedicated session for students studying by distance education.

    ALG Orientation

    Students are required to register for Orientation.

    ALG orientation is held either on-campus or online, on the Friday before each Term commences. Sessions runs for approximately three (for online) to five hours, including lunch and campus tours (for on-campus).
