Phillip Island: Penguins, Koalas and Churchill Island Day Tour
Overview:
A full day exploring Phillip Island, combining coastal scenery, farmland and wildlife with the Penguin Parade at sunset as the closing highlight of the day. The itinerary blends guided walking stops with free time for lunch, and the group will also try to work in a stop at a wildlife park or sanctuary along the route so students get a hands on chance to pat and feed native animals, separate to the wild koala viewing at the Koala Conservation Reserve.

10:30am Depart Melbourne campus
– Churchill Island: historical grounds, farming activities, bay trail walk and bird watching huts
– Koala Conservation Reserve: elevated boardwalk through eucalyptus woodland to view wild koalas resting and feeding; entry included
– Free time for lunch in Cowes (students purchase their own lunch; cafes, bakeries and takeaway options available)
– Wildlife park, sanctuary or zoo stop along the route (subject to availability) for a hands on pat and feed experience
– Cape Woolamai coastal hike: clifftop trails, ocean views and rock formations, paced for enjoyment with time for photos
– The Nobbies coastal boardwalk: views over crashing waves and rocky headlands, seabirds and marine life
– Penguin Parade at sunset: little penguins returning to their burrows; entry included, welfare guidelines followed
– Depart Phillip Island, with a quick dinner stop on the way back to Melbourne
10:00pm Return to Melbourne campus
