Stay afterwards for a relaxed post-film Q&A and discussion. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a thought-provoking movie night! \n\n\n\nWe’re excited to invite Counselling and Psychotherapy students to Ikon’s Trimester 3 Movie Night\, featuring Sound of Metal (2019). \n\n\n\nThis acclaimed drama follows a musician whose world changes when he suddenly loses his hearing. Through a powerful portrayal of change\, identity and the human experience\, the film offers an opportunity to reflect on the human condition and explore different perspectives on illness and lived experience. \n\n\n\nFollowing the screening\, stay for a relaxed post-film Q&A and discussion. \n\n\n\nRecommended Pre-reading\n\n\n\nTo support engagement in the post-film discussion\, students are encouraged to read the Introduction of Illness: The Cry of the Flesh by Havi Carel (2018)\, available through the Ikon library via ProQuest. \n\n\n\nAccess the reading here \n\n\n\nPlease note: the pre-reading is optional\, but recommended. \n\n\n\nEvent Details\n\n\n\n\nDate: Friday 30 October 2026\n\n\n\nTime: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm\n\n\n\nLocation: Level 6\, Room 6\, Melbourne Campus\n\n\n\nCost: Free entry\n\n\n\nFood and drinks: Popcorn and soft drinks provided. So we are back with the second edition of the online study group\, this time on Monday mornings.  \n\n\n\nEvery Monday 10AM-11:30AM AEST (Sydney time) from September 7 to November 16 2026. \n\n\n\nSimply register below before you plan to join and drop by any session!  \n\n\n\nThis weekly event is hosted on Zoom\, after you have registered once\, you will receive the email invite with the link to join any session. Same link\, same time\, every Monday\, no pressure. Just simply join and study together with your peers.  \n\n\n\nWe also saw from the feedback that many of you would like a combination of quiet study time and space\, case management/conceptulisation and assessment discussion. So feel free to let our host know once you join where and how we can accommodate for this. The host of the session will be able to open breakout rooms where necessary.  \n\n\n\nSee you there!
